What is the purpose of THE MIXER?
The Mixer is a gathering of ACS parents, alumni, teachers, administration and friends of ACS; together for a shared purpose: building community while raising essential funds that directly support our unique instructional programs and talented teachers. In other words, having a great time together while supporting our children and our school!
What do the funds raised at THE MIXER support?
All proceeds from The Mixer directly support closing the financial gap between what families pay in tuition and the actual cost of educating each ACS student. The funds raised allow ACS to provide outstanding educational enrichment programs and employ quality teachers and staff who create the nurturing educational experience our children love.
How will ACS raise money at THE MIXER?
PLAY HEADS OR TAILS
This year, every partygoer will be invited to buy a chance to win the coveted ACS Parking Spot by playing “Heads or Tails.” How does it work? Guests can buy 3 chances to win for $150. When the time comes to play, our Auctioneer will ask those playing to put their hand on their head or “tail.” He will then flip a coin and, for example, if the coin reads “heads” and your hand is on your “tail”, then you take one of your necklaces off. The game will continue until there are only two players left. The final flip of the coin will determine the lucky winner!
RAISE THE PADDLE
Each year at the auction we ask our parents to "Raise the Paddle" for a specific need at Almaden Country School. This year parents will raise their paddles to help ACS develop the Imaginarium makerspace with mobile work benches, storage systems, convenient power access points, and additional tools and supplies. In addition, these funds will help fund teacher professional development opportunities for our faculty members.
Unlike our former Dinner Auction, at THE MIXER we will auction approximately 7 (vs. 15) live auction items. This will give partygoers a chance to bid on unique auction items and support Almaden Country School. The items will be advertised in advance on THE MIXER website. There will be no silent auction at the event.
You may purchase additional casino chips at any time during The Mixer. There will be Chip Hosts available to assist you should your chips run low. At the end of the evening, exchange your chips for raffle tickets for your chance to win one of three prizes!
What should I wear?
The GlassHouse has a club-type atmosphere. Expect to see men dressed in jeans and button down shirts. Others may choose slacks, but we suggest leaving your coat and tie at home. Ladies attire will range from jeans and a blouse, to slacks with heels, to dresses. Our suggestion is to wear your favorite outfit in your closet.
